PROFILE

Ms Liesje Schreinemacher has been Deputy Secretary-General of the Benelux Union since January 2026. From 2022 to 2024 she served as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in the Rutte IV cabinet. Prior to that, Schreinemacher was a Member of the European Parliament for the VVD, where she served on the Committees on International Trade, Internal Market and Legal Affairs, and was a member of the delegations for the United States and the United Kingdom. Earlier in her career, she worked as a lawyer and political adviser.
