The Benelux Union and the Greater Region: together for an open society

The Benelux Union and the Greater Region are not only (partly) active in the same geographical area, but also share the same concern: delivering an open society across borders.

As such, the leaders of these two partnerships want to deepen their cooperation by establishing connections and interactions. The reason for this lies in the development of projects of common interest, through four major horizontal themes broken down into targeted actions useful to citizens and businesses.

The four major themes considered for synergy are:

  • safety and crisis management
  • climate change, biodiversity protection, air quality
  • mobility and cross-border workers
  • industrial, digital and energy transition

A comparative report of the respective projects in these different areas of cross-border cooperation is available in a joint report by the Benelux Union and the Greater Region: Comparative report on the actions of the Benelux Union and the Greater Region with a view to deepening our cooperation
