Nearly 150 representatives from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg addressed two major challenges: combating disinformation and achieving the European Digital Decade objectives by 2030.
Professor Dr. Gabriele Lenzini (University of Luxembourg) opened the forum with a keynote on the mechanisms of misinformation spread and strategies to counter it. A roundtable discussion then allowed the three countries to share their national measures and best practices, emphasizing the need for strengthened cooperation.
In the second part, the three states presented their roadmaps for meeting the Digital Decade objectives, focusing on infrastructure, digital skills, and digital public services. Jean-Claude Meyer, Deputy Secretary-General of the Benelux Union, highlighted “the crucial importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing digital and societal challenges” and reminded that “Benelux serves as a laboratory for regional integration and a driver of innovation.” Luxembourg’s Minister Stéphanie Obertin reaffirmed the country’s commitment to an inclusive digital future and announced the upcoming publication of the second national action plan for digital inclusion.
