Enterprise Europe Network meets at the Benelux House: SMEs at the heart of cross-border cooperation

08 Oct. 2025

The Benelux House hosted the annual meeting of the Steering & Advisory Committee of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). The opening session was led by Jean-Claude Meyer, Deputy Secretary-General of the Benelux.

In his speech, Meyer emphasized the importance of Benelux cooperation for SMEs and cross-border economic integration. “We aim to play a pioneering role in creating a supportive environment for SMEs, especially in a cross-border context – including through legislative measures,” he stated.

A significant part of his address was devoted to the Benelux SME Roundtables, which bring together sectoral organizations from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg to identify obstacles and opportunities for entrepreneurs. The first two editions, held in 2023 and 2024, resulted in policy papers addressing administrative simplification, access to skilled labor, and the recognition of professional qualifications. A third roundtable is scheduled for December 2025 in Luxembourg, under the Luxembourg Benelux Presidency, focusing on business succession, SME financing, and administrative simplification.

Meyer called for closer cooperation between the Enterprise Europe Network and Benelux partners: “Your work, like that of our Benelux SME envoys, shares the same goal: unlocking the full potential of SMEs.”
